Service Times

9:15 AM - Traditional Worship (Sanctuary)

At 9:15 on Sunday mornings we gather in our beautiful sanctuary to praise and worship God at our Traditional Service. In this service we enjoy singing hymns that are familiar favorites as we are accompanied on the organ. The church's Chancel Choir regularly sings at this service. Each week you can count on praying the Lord's Prayer and singing the Gloria Patrai and Doxology. You will also have the chance to hear an inspiring sermon from our senior minister, Dr. David Brice. As in all of our services the Lord's Supper is an important part of this service each week. Children's church is offered every week (for children 3-8) and the nursery is always available.

11:11 AM - Contemporary Worship (Sanctuary)

Our 11:11 service on Sunday mornings takes place in the church's Family Life Center. This service of praise and worship features a casual family atmosphere, inspiring music from our church's Praise Band, and a challenging and uplifting scripture-based message from our minister. As in all of our worship services at Kings Highway, the Lord's Supper is an important part of this service each week. Children's church is offered every week (for children 3-8) and the nursery is always available.

11:30 AM - Hispanic Worship (3rd Floor)

At 11:30 on Sunday morning we gather in our third floor chapel for our Hispanic Service. Led by the Reverends Elly and Hesus Bullness, this service is conducted entirely in Spanish. Accompanied by guitar and drums, we sing hymns from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. This diversity of music reflects the diversity of those who attend this service and are part of our Hispanic Ministry. As in all of our services the Lord's Supper is an important part of this service each week. Childcare is always available during this service.

Letter from the Senior Minister

Greetings,

My name is David Brice and I'm the Senior Minister here at Kings Highway Christian Church. My hope is that you will get to know us well enough through our presence on the web to accept our invitation to worship soon. There is no better way to get to know who we are than by joining us as we worship God and seek His guidance for our lives.

Kings Highway is church with a long history and terrific traditions; after all, we have been an active community of faith for over 80 years. While we are proud of our past, our focus as a congregation is on the bright future that we have ahead of us.

As a church we are committed to helping children, teens, and adults to connect with God, and become the people that He is calling us to be. We do this through diverse but excellent worship experiences, and through small group activities that focus on service, spiritual growth, and fellowship.

Again, I hope you will join us for worship soon, but in the meantime please feel free to contact me with any questions. My number is 318.222.3684, extension 13.

May God bless you as you seek a church home where you can feel His love and inspiration.

In faith,

Dr. David Brice

History of Kings Highway Christian Church

While we are a community that focuses on the exciting future ahead of us, we also humbly acknowledge that the ministries we accomplish today at Kings Highway Christian Church would not be possible but for the work and sacrifice of those who came before us. As the scriptures say, "we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 12:1). Kings Highway Christian Church began on May 20, 1923. As with many new churches Kings Highway's beginning was made possible through the work and commitment of the members of its "parent" church, Central Christian in Shreveport.

Since its earliest days Kings Highway Christian Church has been located at the corner of Kings Highway and Line Avenue. In 1925, only two years after the church was founded, the magnificent sanctuary was completed. Since that time this sanctuary has been the sight of hundreds of weddings and funerals, and thousands of worship services. It is one of only two protestant churches in Shreveport listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Over the years the church's facilities have grown as a result of 4 ambitious building campaigns, but the buildings are only the shell of the church and while the history of our facilities are simple to report, there is no way to quickly sum up the history of the church as a community. Suffice it to say that as with any other congregation we have nurtured children and seen them grow into adulthood. We have helped many young people through their exciting and difficult teenage years. On countless occasions we have cared for families during some of the best and worst moments of their lives. We have sought to inspire all who enter to recognize the love that God is offering us, and to grow in relationship with Him by listening for and responding to His call for our lives. And together we have tried as a community to make our neighborhood and city the best that they can be.

As friends and members of Kings Highway Christian Church we are a part of something much greater than ourselves: a line of serving and worshiping Christians stretching back over 80 years.
