Expectations
Kings Highway Christian Church is dedicated to your child's
growth as individuals and as spiritual vessels of His word.
Christian Education begins at birth, from the Nursery, to
Toddlers' Sunday School, to Preschool, to Kindergarten, and on to
5th grade. Children's Ministries staff and volunteers are
dedicated to instilling in all children the very essence of who
Jesus Christ is - love. Additionally, we want them to be
happy, joyful, as well as understand worship. Children not
only can be taught to worship, but they have this innate ability to
be an active participant! We want them to see the humor in
some of the Bible stories and the pure love of God, through His Son,
Christ Jesus.
Godly Play
Traditional Worship - 9:15 am
Sunday School - 10:30 am
Contemporary Worship - 11:11 am
Children gather during the Moments for the Children during the
two worship services and are escorted to the First Floor of the
Education Building for Godly Play. Sunday School classes for
the various age groups are located on the First and Second Floors of
the Education Building.
Godly Play is a Montessori based, hands-on curriculum. This is
used for Sunday School (ages 3 - 5th grade) and Children's Church
(ages 3 - 3rd grade). All manipulatives in the classroom may
be worked with by the children. Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman, a
second generation Maria Montessori initiate, developed the
curriculum after many years of research. It is regarded as a
leading program in multi-age, multi-level learning, and is used
throughout the world. KHCC has two accredited teachers and
eight others trained to present the lessons.
Sunday
Evening Fellowship
4:00 - 5:30 pm
First Floor, Education Building
For Sunday Evening Fellowship (ages 3 - 5th grade), the curriculum
varies from year to year, and may emphasize Character Development,
Prayer, Missions, or other ministries for the entire year.
Sponsors introduce games, stories, crafts and field trips.
Music sponsors teach the children songs for fun and for use in
presentations.
To assure integrity, all volunteers go through a screening process.
Mission Work
Mission work begins with our 3's and continues throughout the
entire church. Giving is stressed through offerings, cleaning
the church sanctuary, and making cards or cookies for our Elders and
Shut-Ins.
